Why the wilderness?

I guess I forgot to point out why my title is one year in the wilderness.. this base is on the edge of what is known as the Ventana Wilderness in California. Which is an area of National Forest and mountains to the west of Big Sur. You can learn more about this region by visiting http://www.ventanawild.org/



There is a road called Nacimiento Ferguson that runs through the wilderness to the coast, it is an awesome sight to see the ocean from the edge of the mountains!
